Rockbox Video?

I installed rockbox on my ipod video today and i like it, because i dont have to use the itunes the transfer music, i also have dual boot just in case, the sound quality sounds better with rockbox, thanx rockbox. One question, can i play video files on rockbox?  Thanx!

i saw that some archos can play videos in grayscale...is this feature gonna come for the ipod 4th gen grayscale as well?....

I think it *could* be possible and is/was also requested in the tracker (see FS#6313 — RVF filetype viewer for gray scale targets).

But it might not be as easy as you imagine. The Archos have an extra chip to decode audio so that the CPU doesn't have to bother much with it. For the other greyscale players the processor has to control both - audio and video decoding (considering Mpegplayer though...) - at least it must be written differently.

If my memory serves well, there was someone who already started porting this plugin; but neither I know how far he got, nor I've seen some code of it in the patch tracker...

I seem to remember the person being called Wett (or something similar) - a search of the archived old format forums should bring it up.  I don't however remember any source being released, although I might be wrong.

I also seem to remember (certainly taxing my old memory this morning) Amiconn in IRC a good long time ago (months) saying he might look at it, but as always, people have loads on.  It might be worth asking if he has had any additional thoughts on it.
