sorry to hijack this thread, but is there another way to get an ipod nano into disk mode? Mine doesn't seem to accept select/play on bootup and I made the same error as the original poster...

That method works on all Nano's.

If it's not going into diskmode, it's because you're doing it wrong - not because it doesn't work.
