Rockbox doesn't charge the x5 at all.Only cowons firmware charges the x5.
PS: do batteries of X5 and X5L phisically have different dimensions /connectors ?
Perhaps i chanced to set worng accumulator capacity ? But what is the correct value and can't rockBox detect it itself ?

Not quite. Rockbox doesn't set the PCF50606's mode register to anything when the AC adapter is plugged in, so it's not really known what mode the chip is using to charge the battery while Rockbox is running. The general consensus among X5 users is that it's better to charge the battery when Rockbox is not running.
Yes. The X5L has two standard batteries in it and has a bigger/thicker case (same as a 60GB X5). You can convert a 60GB X5 to an X5L by substituting a smaller hardrive and putting in a second battery. Likewise you can convert an X5L to a 60GB X5 by removing one battery and installing a larger 60GB drive.
