iAudio x5 - battery 'turn off' voltage.

i have a standard iAudio x5, with a normal battery and so on.
I would like to ask, what is the 'turn off' volatege of battery (or, if i am not clear enough, - what is the battery's volatge when it turns off?)

Discharging a li-pol battery too deep can damage it and therefore most hardware using them (ie the x5) have hardware controled poweroff that is triggered by voltage dropping below a certain point (i don't know the exact point though). This behaviour can not be controled by rockbox and we want to be able to make a clean shutdown to save settings, resume info etc. In other words you wouldn't get much extra battery time from lowering the poweroff limit .

At spring or summer i purchased X5/60Gb.
I'd better have X5L/30GB, but they were not available then.

I just installed last unstable rockbox.

Battery works strange. It seems it is drainning much faster than original firmware, and when it is charging, it does not charge to the end. After Rockbox reported battery is 100% charged, i turned it off and rest of standard firmware charged battery for several hours more.
Perhaps i chanced to set worng accumulator capacity ? But what is the correct value and can't rockBox detect it itself ?

PS: do batteries of X5 and X5L phisically have different dimensions /connectors ?
In other words, can i replace standard battery of X5 with some better battery, like the one in X5L ?

Not quite. Rockbox doesn't set the PCF50606's mode register to anything when the AC adapter is plugged in, so it's not really known what mode the chip is using to charge the battery while Rockbox is running.

The general consensus among X5 users is that it's better to charge the battery when Rockbox is not running.

Yes. The X5L has two standard batteries in it and has a bigger/thicker case (same as a 60GB X5). You can convert a 60GB X5 to an X5L by substituting a smaller hardrive and putting in a second battery. Likewise you can convert an X5L to a 60GB X5 by removing one battery and installing a larger 60GB drive.

X5L = 2250mAh

Rockbox does not autodetect the capacity (to my knowledge that's not possible).

It is also irrelevant.  The only function of setting the battery capacity within rockbox is a more accurate time remaining readout.

Hmmm, so playing X5 while in AC, even when 100% charged might be dangeroud ? :-(

Is the connection of batteries standard? In other words, may there be found some 3rd-party equivalent, that would be both slim and longplaying ? :-)

Guess, Rockbox is better to have "Default" menu in that entry, that would lead to device-specific thingie.
For X5 there should be told something like:

"Rockbox cannot detect if You have X5 or X5L device.
If You do have X5L, set the 2250mAh value.
If You do have X5, set the 950mAh value."
