For the benefit of others, what did you have to do to fix it?

I had to edit the user account controls. Normally, vista asks if the user wants to allow a program to run and this causes the ipod patcher to open in a new window, but when this is turned off by going to the user account part of control panel it can be turned off and then follwed by a restart, everything works fine.

Okay, I'm trying to install Rockbox onto my 2Gb. iPod nano gen 1. I copied the orginal firmware,but installing the file "bootloader-ipodnano.ipod" will not work. I comes up with the line:

   [ERR] --add-bootloader failed.

I tried redownloading the bootloader, and repeating the step.

Im entering in the command promt:

   C:/rockbox/ipodpatcher 2 -a bootloader-ipodnano.ipod

Can you help me?

My guess is that you have the bootloader-ipodvideo.ipod file in the \rockbox file, but you're running ipod patcher from your root directory.
