Shuffle problem?
«

Hi, I am a new member of this forum and new to the RockBox as well. Ive been using it for a few days on my x5 and am really pleased with it.
But (there's always but
): I like to listen to my music when it is shuffled, especially when I feel like mixing a few genres together.
I thought the Shuffle: on function (accessed by long pressing record button) would shuffle my playlist. However, I 'discovered' that after adding a new album I have to access the shuffle option again, turn it off and on again, to make the list shuffled.
SO my question is: Is it possible, to make the Shuffle: on option shuffle the songs when adding?
Actually I was thinking about changing the 'CLick insert options' to Queue shuffled, yet on the other hand I would not like to unchange it every time I'd like to listen to a whole album or an audiobook.
Hope you can help me, thanks in advance.
(BTW, is playlist a catalog with links to the files? Just curious)
Regards,
koziasty

Actually, is it possible to do something like:
if(shuffle: on)
than(click_insert_option: queue = click_insert_option: queue_shuffled) [or insert = insert shuffled];
else(click_insert_option: queue = click_insert_option: queue) [not sure if the last step is needed?]
Frankly I know nothing about programming, just the basis, but would like to contribute , should someone pointed me where to begin.
see you

Highlight the album you want to add to the current playlist, hold Select to open the context menu for that album's folder and choose Playlist -> Insert shuffled.

Well, it is one of the options. It is a bit annoying though, waiting for the screen to come up, and than choose the correct option. I guess I was wondering whether a correction to the shuffle option could be made
Or if there was something i was doing wrong. Since there's not, I think Ill be stuck for a while with this annoying 'option'.
THanks
(BTW, should anyone had more suggestion, please do post them here, thanks)

There's a separate option because otherwise there would be no way to guarantee a song, or songs, happen next when "Shuffle" is on. Your method *requires* that a song be shuffled in, if shuffle is on. What about people who suddenly crave a specific song, but then want to continue with the shuffled playlist?
The current option offers the greates amount of flexibility, I think.

Right. Yet again, if you use multiple folders and you have to shuffle-queue them every time, it takes more time than insert next or last or whatever you want on just one song.
Anyway, I see im tilting at windmills here
Thanks for your answer, though.
Could somebody please hint me where in the source should I look for the option, so i would play with it (or rather have my friend play with it
)
OK, nevermind, found it here:

Thanks.

Yes, but at the same time, if you *don't* and want to queue up multiple single songs (Say you have a few favorite songs from various groups you want to hear) the same things applies.
If you use multiple folders, to shuffle them every time, create a playlist once, and then load that playlist with shuffle mode enabled. Your example is somewhat irrelevant as it assumes the user deliberately goes out of his way to make life more difficult on himself.

Right. So you highlight your songs and, depending on your settings, they are added to the playlist with a one click. If you want them shuffled, again, you have to have set your playlist and turn the shuffle option to ON. If you don't you simply don't turn the option on. I don't really see your point here, I might be missing something.
If i use multiple folders, I might want to add an album/folder from time to time, which would imply turning the option off and on - and we are at the starting point

No, if you want to add an album folder from time to time, just "Insert Shuffled" rather than "Insert"...
No option that needs to be turned on and off.
