truncate lines

is there a way to show only the first x characters of the title/artist/album/etc? i looked around for a while both in the wiki and the forums and i couldn't find anything.

Don't forget that some fonts are proportional so the first X characters of IIII will be narrowe than MMMM.

I don't know of a way of doing it though, I'm tempted to suggest that you use images with transparent areas to mask but I suspect that you want to put several things on the same line so that won't work.

or you can use spaces and no %s
so if

[    26 spaces    ]%it

then using the right font it may look like

                         BlahBla[cut off]

or try using patches there's one that does this.

actually, using small pics to cover the text where i needed to worked out ok. a scrolling line messes everything up though

it'd be cool to have scrolling lines while still being able to cover parts of them with images, that way i could make some sort of small notifier window inside the wps that shows the next song title, for example.

anyway here's how it looks now, the wps i'm using is a somewhat modified version of nOS Blue:



i removed some stuff from the original wps to keep it simple and uncluttered. also covered the right piece of text in the title with a small pic so that the line doesn't stretch out of the little 'box' thingy where all the info is. the pic also covers the artist and album info, so they don't stretch out either.
