Requesting snes plugin
« on: January 02, 2007, 04:42:46 AM »
Hey, I know that we wouldn't be able to run an snes emulator on some of the older player but I have a gigabeat and I'm pretty sure it would have enough power to run snes games, I was just wondering if anyone wanted to pick up the project. I would help out as much as I could.

1. I don't think the devs here like requests ;)
2. I think a NES emulater has been made for IPL, but it it way too slow...

It's not that the devs here dislike requests - it's just that their busy doing their own thing usually - and have little time to actually implement them. I'm sure they don't actually object to people voicing them. Just don't expect them to get done :)

Also requests belong in the tracker and are more for inspiration than anything else. If for example a bored developer want's ideas (s)he might have a look at the over 500 requests in the tracker.

Honestly, don't bother putting this request in the tracker. No players are powerfuly enough to emulate the Super Nintendo.

SNES emulators sort of run on the GBA which uses the same CPU as the Ipod, except clocked 4 times slower and not dual core.  I think any of the software targets should run SNES games, with enough work, though doing any of the special add on chips may not be possible on slower targets.

Well, is anyone up to starting the project? I'll help out where I can, I just don't know where to start.

Don't beg for new features! If you're so inclined, put this in feature requests. If not, you've already posted once, so whatever happens will happen. There's information in the wiki about starting to code for rockbox, but I think you'll need a bit more than begenner's experience to do this project.  :)
