Trouble with the gigabeat f20 rockbox

(1/2) > >>

chrismerjane:
hey, ive been watching the rockbox site very closely for months waiting for it to come out for the gigabeat f20. when it did, i read the manual and was amazed, just extract the files to the root of the drive? how easy! i did it, and it didnt work. my gigabeat just boots into its own firmwire as it did before i did anything.... both the rockbox.gigabeat file and the .gigabeat folder have been extracted.

a little help? im currently running firmware 3.00AU

Thanx  :)

Llorean:
The manual is lacking the bootloader section.

There is currently no official install process at the moment beyond that posted here: http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/GigabeatFXPort which requires that you be able to compile your own bootloader.

chrismerjane:
thanx, that helped heaps :D

for future n00bs like myself, heres a pre-compiled bootloader, but before using it make sure u read http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/GigabeatFXPort very carefully.

the bootloader can be found: http://www.hack.id.au/files/FWIMG01.DAT

thanx again :)

Thanks for the bootloader.  I can't for the life of me figure out how to build my own.  I just got my Gigabeat and am new to Rockbox.  I read the instructions but it's pretty much greek to me.

Okay, I know this question will seem very basic to you all, but how can I rename a doubly hidden file?  I'm trying to rename the original gigabeat bootloader with windows explorer, but I can't see it, even though I chose "show hidden files".  I tried the command line, but couldn't figure out how to get to f:\ (gigabeat drive).  As you can tell, I rarely do any actual work with windows....

Thanks!
Wendy
