iPod dead :(

I recently installed Rockbox on my iPod Photo, I added some FLACs and everything worked fine, but then I went on a trip and connected my iPod to the car to charge my iPod while using it, the moment I connected it, it resetted and I didn't put attention to it and just continued using it, but after an hour or so it completely turned off, and I tried to turn it on but the apple logo appeared and it stayed there. The next day the logo was still there and i tried connecting the iPod to a power source but nothing happened. I tried connecting the iPod to my computer but nothing happened, and after the battery drained away, I connected it to the computer and resetted it but it didn't respond and just stayed turned off completely, a minute ago the apple logo appeared again but it just stayed there, and I resetted it again but it just turned off and now it's unresponsive once again. I don't know if the problem was Rockbox or connecting it to the car, because I then connected another iPod to the car for a second and it resetted as well, I hope someone can give some advice to help fix my iPod.

And now, a battery appears on the screen like when you're charging the iPod, except this one is in black and white, and if I try to reset it nothing happens

While plugged into your computer, reset with Menu and Select then hold Select and Play while it is resetting. It should go into diskmode. If when you disconnect it the same thing happens, try uninstalling the rockbox bootloader (directions on Installation wiki page). If you have to, restore from iTunes.

The problem is that my iPod won't go into diskmode no matter what, and it isn't recognized by my computer

Have you tried simply letting it charge while connected to the computer?

What happens when you try to put it into disk mode?

Hi ricardo!

This battery icons showed indicates that you totally discharged your battery. You have to put your iPod to charge for about 20 or 30 minutes, then the battery will get power to boot your iPod.

did what?
if the battery is 99% dead (my way of saying almost dead), then it wont let you access anything.
That black & white charging screen (if connected to your PC) says "Diskmode" at the top, then that is what you should be accessing and that will allow you to use iTunes to restore your iPod.

I can honestly say that from the things you are saying, Rockbox is probably not for you...it sounds like it's going to be more of a pain than a luxury unless you sit back and read the FAQs and info on what you are doing when you are installing rockbox on your iPod.

OK, here's what happens:
I let the iPod charge on my computer for 5 hours, and now instead of the battery there's the apple logo, and from here, nothing can be done, except reset it, but when I reset it, it either returns to the apple logo and stays there or it turns off and stays unresponsive for an hour or so.

To charge I'm using the USB cable that came with my iPod, which is connected to the computer, but even if I use any other usb ipod cable or firewire ipod cable the problem still persists, so I don't think the problem is the cable.

And no, the black and white charging screen didn't say Diskmode, it was just the battery

The battery screen came up on me the other day, I completly flattened the battery to recharge it fully again, and the battery screen doesn't say Disk Mode at the top.

not sure if this helps (and might be too late to respond)......

something similar happened to me with my old 4G..... the battery was completely dead and it couldn't be recharged using the USB cable from the computer. But recharging it with the AC adapter  worked. A friend told me there was a problem with an ipod updater and that the usb current wasn't enough to re-charge the battery.

Same thing happened to me on my 5.5g and i just used a a different usb port on another computer and it charged fine.
