ok. Tried that apt-get update and it downloaded and installed some stuff, then tried the apt-get install fontforge again, but same error comes up.  :-\

Code: [Select]
E: Broken packages
looks like a ... broken package, and therefore a debian problem to me (which implies it is not specific for the vmware image)

I use Fontforge to create my own fonts for rockbox. Very easy and powerful program. Fontforge site: http://fontforge.sourceforge.net/

Its also listed in the wiki: http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/CreateFonts

anyway, this is getting pretty much OT -- fontforge has nothing to do with gdb. Please, use a new thread if there is still need to discuss fontforge on the vmware image.
(And fontforge also runs on windows, so I don't see the need of running it inside of vmware)

Fair enough.

By the way, as far as I know, fontforge runs in cygwin under Windows, not windows itself.
