Ok I am trying to install this using the manual and I am at the part where it asks you to put a command in the command prompt on windows and for some reason the code doesn't work. Help would be greatly appreciated

More information needed.  What player?  What "code" doesn't work?  What happens when you try it?

5.5 Generation iPod
I tried the lastest version for the ipod photo/video code
When it said to type "ipodpatcher --scan" in the windows command prompt, my computer said that it was an unknown command.

You need to download the ipodpatcher program and navigate to whatever directory you put it in before executing that command. As it says in the manual.

Ok that leads to another problem.
Whenever I click on the ipodpatcher icon it flashes what looks like a command prompt and then it disapears.

Why are you trying to click it in Windows?  You need to run the program from a command prompt.  From your first post, you seem to understand how to do this; you just need to ensure that you are running the command from the directory where you have downloaded the ipodpatcher program.

You need to run ipodpatcher from a command prompt.  In Windows XP, for example, open a command window by clicking Start --> Run --> cmd
