Help, noob installing on 4th gen 20 gig

Rockbox error -1 means you have the bootloader installed correctly, but don't have the rockbox.ipod file on the root of your player.
You need to extract the .ZIPped build onto your player.

Though the fact that it's not loading the original firmware, but instead reboots the bootloader suggests it's not, after all, installed correctly either.
It'll still function to load Rockbox by this point, but may not function to load the Apple OS.

Ok, sorry one more! How do I put songs onto it? The rockbox appears to load fine, but when I plug it back into my computer it doesn't appear as a drive.

What you need to do is go into iTunes and make sure the iPod is set to be used as a disk drive.
