COUNTER-STRIKE AND OTHER WADS IN PROGRESS!!!
ViperKnight:
I see no problem with it.....
The WADS are modifications which use no part of any copyrighted material and are freely available to be distributed. So the CS Doom Mod has NOTHING to do with Valve/Sierra etc as Vliger has said ;)
Although you will have to supply the original/unaltered Readme with the files ;)
Llorean:
Does it have reproductions of significant elements of Counterstrike? Does it reuse ANY images from Counterstrike? Heck, even the name itself is of question, clearly.
Febs:
If you can show me that there is a license that allows you to distribute the wads (e.g., if you can show me that they have been released under the GPL), then you may repost the link. However, the fact that these were not authored by Sierra is absolutely irrelevant, as they were obviously authored by someone and therefore subject to copyright. Likewise, the fact that they have been distributed elsewhere on the internet is irrelevant unless they have been distributed pursuant to some sort of license that allows redistribution.
axlgreasetires:
Yo. I have used many addon wads. I got a counterstrike wad off of a psp haking forum. It's doesn't use exactly the same sprites. It does not need a license. At least it shouldn't. Doom addons are normally made for the general public. If people don't want the general public. Don't release them.
I think the guy should be allowed to post his addon. But hey! That's just my oppinion.
Llorean:
As we said, all he has to do is show that it's legal. This requires a link to some license statement from the author, at a bare minimum.
Rockbox in the past has had to deal with copyright issues, and we're very concerned that nobody's rights get infringed by way of our site.
