Archos Jukebox Studio 20: Panic* Ata-11 error - won't boot
(1/1)
docbells:
I had stopped using the charger that came with my unit a long time ago. I have been using a better one with the proper voltage from radio shack for a couple of years.
Well - last night I could not find that one so I dug up my old archos charger and plugged it in. This morning everything seemed fine. The screen said it was charging (I have rockbox flashed) so I unplugged it and went on my way.
Well - now it will not boot up. get Panic* ata: -11 error.
When I connect it to the computer via usb it acts fine, but when I try to start it up, I can't get past this screen then it dies.
I hope I did not ruin this wonderful companion of mine that has been the jukebox 20 for so many years.
Please help!
Thanks

ATA -11 usually means a busted hard drive. Can you actually read and write to the drive in windows? If you can, you might want to try to load the original firmware and see if it works...
AlexP:
I seem to remember on the archos, that ATA -11 is often to do with batteries? I think the contacts get old, and need resoldering. Try squeezing the case together and see if that helps.
I may of course be thinking of the wrong model, I think the Archos expert (and all the others!) is LinusN, maybe try IRC to catch him?
