Bootloader Installation on ipod 3rd Gen
(1/1)
Neuromancer:
I'm trying to install the bootloader on my 3rd gen ipod. I'm running Ubuntu 6.10. I dloaded ipodpatcher and made it executable. I dloaded bootloader- ipod3g.ipod. My ipod shows up in the desktop, its mounted on /media/ipod. I try running ./ipodpatcher /media/ipod -a
And I get this output:
ipodpatcher v0.5 - (C) Dave Chapman 2006
This is free software; see the source for copying conditions. There is NO
warranty; not even for MERCHANTABILITY or FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.
Usage: ipodpatcher --scan
or ipodpatcher device [action]
Where [action] is one of the following options:
-l, --list
-r, --read-partition bootpartition.bin
-w, --write-partition bootpartition.bin
-rf, --read-firmware filename.ipod
-wf, --write-firmware filename.ipod
-a, --add-bootloader filename.ipod
-d, --delete-bootloader
"device" is the device node (e.g. /dev/sda) assigned to your ipod.
ipodpatcher will refuse to access a disk unless it can identify it as being
an ipod.
What am I doing wrong?
GodEater:
Firstly - you've not read the instructions properly - you need to run :
ipodpatcher --scan
But secondly, you're out of luck, since that version of ipodpatcher doesn't work with the 3G currently.
