Set my EQ on my Ipod now "Freezing" songs and slowed scrolling even more
« on: December 28, 2006, 10:53:30 PM »
So I set my EQ on my 5G Video iPod(has rockbox obviously :D) sounds great, only problem is that it has slowed my ipod EVEN MORE since rockbox already slows scrolling. Now I can scroll maybe 8 artists in like 10 seconds which sucks.

Sometimes it also freezes the song for like .5 seconds then resumes the song every maybe 1 minute to 45 seconds.

Any help?

If you're using the software equalizer, basically Rockbox on iPod is currently not fast enough to decode audio and use the software equalizer. There's work going on to fix that, but I'm not sure when we'll see results from that.

For the moment you can try either fewer bands on the software equalizer. I have heard of some success with using one or two bands.

Your other option is to use the hardware equalizer, but be aware that while the user interface lets you set five bands, only the first and the last band actually work.

Really now? you mean when it looks something like

LS
PK
PK
PK
HS?

The LS and HS didn't do anything for me, but the first PK was lows, second Mids and the third Highs it sounded like.. am I doing it wrong?

The only screen that has what you describe is the graphical equalizer screen for the software equalizer. Which is known to work.

Make sure you're actually in the hardware equalizer menu. It's basically

Sound Settings -> Hardware Equalizer

you'll also want to disable the software EQ if the hardware one works for you.

The "Hardware Equalizer" Menu looks like:

Quote
Enable Hardware EQ
Low Shelf Filter
Peak Filter 1
Peak Filter 2
Peak Filter 3
High Shelf Filter

The shelf filters work for me.  I also use the software EQ for the precut with no hiccups in playback.  I tend not to scroll around too much while playing though.
