Thanks for the fast reply! Here's how I see everything element-wise in the design lining up. I'm just more used to printed page layout and web design with margins, borders, etc. It sounds like you/we have a lot less "finesse" control options when making these wps themes.

Most important in my mind is the 10px border that is a constant around the edge, I see many wps themes that everything just sticks right to the absolute left or right edge or is centered... not what I'm thinking of.

Also, I guess for usability, it would be nice if these "fields" as I've illustrated in the img above would work for title, artist, album, etc to scroll... but then again, is it a really annoying looking scroll? Are there any variables for the scroll function (like scroll, pause, scroll again)? If it's just a constant scroll, the words can just cut off. As long as they cut off with that 10px border on the right side.

Sorry if I sound demanding, it's not meant like that. I just would like to avoid making too many comprimises to the design idea.

To say we have a lot less options is an understatement :D

The WPS screen is, as far as text is concerned, about as complex as a really shrunk down Notepad (in windows, I don't know the mac equivalent) screen.  You *can* in Rockbox have text left/right/center justified (even on the same line) and you *can* force margins using the spacebar left and right, and just not using a line on the top and bottom, but you can't have a *10 pixel* margin unless your space character happens to be 5 or 10 pixels.

Also, on the bottom, your 1:59 and Thurs, Jan 04 must be a *text line* apart to have a gap, they cannot be a certain number of pixels. Whatever that *text line* gap is, that's what you get.  Same with the gap between MP3 and 4:35

If you do scrolling margins, that 140px is easy to force.  I don't have time to tell you about it right now, but a bit of Feature Request searchign should dredge it up. You'll need a build that supports it, which the base build doesn't do.  If you don't use Scrolling margins, anything longer than 140 pixels will continue off the screen to the right.

As to controlling scrolling, that's totally up to whoever uses the WPS.  It's controlled by menu options not wps code.

Wow some of the designs look amazing, you sure are good. Could someone create one for me? Id love anything to do with the band Panic! At The Disco, and would like it on the 5th generation ipod, the video. Im also new to rockbox, so if you could also direct me into where to download pre-made themes that would be great. Thanking you in advance!

1) You extract the themes, backdrops, and wps folders into .rockbox
2) Try not to double post. Click the edit/modify post button

Alright, a lot of stuff I'm working on right now, but as of about 5 minutes, ago, I released 3 themes. 2 for the iPod 5g, and one for Gigabeat. Here they are.

1.     X and O

started this a while ago, TOTALLY forgot about it, so hope you like it. I didn't make the background someone on deviantart did, so I credit whomever it was, but it wasn't me. Making that clear. Oh, and before anyone asks, no, the name is not based on anything.

2.     Xbox 360 5G Theme

Xbox 360 theme. The basis for it was designed by Microsoft, edited then by ryan2632, and then I finished it. So credit him as well as me. Thanks, hope you like it!

3.     GigaMario!

d47 requested me to port my Mario 5g theme to the gigabeat, so here it is. Hope you like it!

Comments? Criticism?
