iriver or rockbox issue?
« on: December 26, 2006, 08:11:12 AM »
Hello Communitiy,
My iriver h10 20 gb stoppes sometimes while playing a song and skips to the next. Im using the latest daily build.
Is this a 'bug' in the rockbox firmeware, or is something wrong with my player?
Btw, i like rockbox alot, thank you for your work!

Regards,
Fabian

sounds like a broken file to me... can you reproduce it with the same file(s)? Do the affected files work on your pc / using the OF? If there is an issue with the codec it should be repeatable on all swcodec devices, and I haven't got such issues (but I have some files not playing, which is related to the id3 tags. Haven't investigated that further)

No i can not reproduce it... when i play the file manual it works fine (on the player and on my pc). Also it seems as the effect appears periodical, all ~15 minutes. Could it be an playlist issue? Is the dynamic playlist updated from time to time or something?
I dont use the taglibrary, i play from the folders direct.

//edit:
Okay after 2 hours testing: it skips exactly all 20 minutes.

Maybe that's the point where the player reads data from disk to fill its buffer? Assuming your files all have the same bitrate (and are cbr) this sounds possible to me. Have you tried disabling all cpu-intensive functions like equalizer, peak meters in the wps etc.? Maybe it's the cpu performance issue and only triggers on rebuffering in your case.

...and in the meantime, the bug will magically disappear? Running the original firmware isn't exactly helping us find the problem.
