New to Rockbox
« on: December 24, 2006, 01:09:22 AM »
hi, im thinking about installing Rockbox on my Ipod color (4th gen i believe) that will come in through the mail after x-mas. i am looking forward to trying something new on the boring ipod interface. theres only one problem......i don't know the difference between the CVS build and the daily builds...and which is better/more stable. im hoping to not have to connect my ipod everyday and update the build please if you can help clarify the difference between these i would greately appreciate it.

                                                              Thank you

                                                                      -Rand0m717

I believe CVS are the most recent, while daily builds are only updated once per day.

so how often do the new CVS's come out? will i be required to get them or will Rockbox run fine without them? Also.....will new CVS builds come with patches or will all patches have to be compiled and installed manually?

You can update as often as you like.  The CVS builds are updated each time a developer makes a commit.

Patches get included or rejected at various times. There is never any guarantee of when or if one will get included, as a wide variety of factors can affect this. You can see the update log on the front page of the site which tells you what changes have been made, and decide if those are important enough for you to choose to update.
