Ipod 3g: itrip compatibility
« on: December 22, 2006, 04:32:42 PM »
I know the rule is, if it only uses the headphone output it'll work, etc.  However, this unit uses the headphone output and it looks like it uses the other connector just for power, will it work with my 3g ipod?

Thanks.

I know they sell fm transmitters that run off a AAA battery, that you can plug into any audio source, so based on that I would assume it could work. If you know someone else that has one, you might want to test it before you buy it. You might be able to hook another Rockbox user in the progress.  :)

Well, the iTrip lCD doesn't work with my 3g iPod and rockbox.  Bummer.  I tried it with Apple's firmware and it didn't work well anyway, my car antenna is in the back and unless the ipod was very close to the antenna it there was a lot of interference.

Did it work at all?  The itrip also draws the change of signal from the other dohickey.  I would also be interested, as I got this for my fiancee, and it means we dont have to mess with batteries.  I dont want to use iTunes.
