Ipod 5g always "freezes" computer on connect

(1/1)

magnumforce2006:
Whenever I connect my Ipod 5g video (60gb) to my computer it makes the computer hang a bit... It doesn't necessarily "freeze" but I can't open or close programs for sometimes 30-40 seconds. Is this a problem for anyone else? None of my friends (non-rockbox users) have this problem.. I'm unsure if this is rockbox related, but I'm just throwing this out there.

Sorry if this is a general ipod problem having nothing to do with rockbox.

Llorean:
Rockbox reboots into Apple's hardware disk mode for USB connection, so Rockbox doesn't do anything over USB on the iPod yet. Any problems should be general iPod, yes.

d47:
yes, ive just installed rockbox onto my brothers ipod for him and whenever he plugs his ipod into his windows pc the computer freezes, after unpluging the ipod the computer displayes a message that read something like "Your ipod has been modified/damaged, please use the ipod restore tool to reformat your ipod". luckly i am a linux user and have a selection of liek 5 other computers that he can use and dont have the problem but it would be ideal if he could use his own computer.

Then complain to Apple about it.  As Llorean said, it is nothing that we have any control over.

Also, if your computer is telling you that your iPod might be damaged, check it.  This can be accomplished through Scan Disk in Windows and dosfsck in linux.
