Data Aborts
iwantanimac:
Hi all,
I just got a few more WADs to try with doom, and on two of them I ALWAYS get a Data Abort error, and it references the same number (Different for each, of course) and crashes out.
Now I'm wondering just exactly what a data abort its, how they happen, what causes them and what people can do to prevent it (If possible).
I've seen the bug reports, and the patches that disable processor boosting, but the H10 is set to 100% constantly, and i can't patch a build to try it out.
Is it something to do with a corrupt disk, or just a software error?
I hope someone can shed some light on this problem which seems common among PortalPlayer DAP users.
Llorean:
The address is actually useful in debugging the problem, though I'd be interested to also know which WADs have this problem.
iwantanimac:
OK well ill see if i can get the original download locations for you...
It turns out they both Data Abort at the same address... 40000A24
I'm linking to the compressed files for each, which includes instructions.
Running as ADDONS with Doom 2 WAD:
WAD File:
GOBLIN.wad (I think this one uses some stuff that isn't available in RockDoom)
action.wad (This one might be the same)
I got two others from the same site (Half-Life and GoldenEye) and both work perfectly as addons.
I haven't tried any of them as the normal game yet, but i will do so later.
Llorean:
Yes, both of those require features not present in Rockdoom, which is why they're causing it to crash.
iwantanimac:
::) thought so... but why a data abort?
