5g-do I always have manually enter disk mode?
« on: December 21, 2006, 06:50:30 AM »
Hi,

I have searched under disk mode in the manual, and looked at various forum entries, but cannot find an answer. This is probably a silly question, but when I boot into rockbox, should my PC see the 5g ipod when it is connected? - it does not at present, and the only way to copy files to/from is to manually boot into disk mode and use the apple firmware. Is this normal?

thanks,

Rockbox will reboot into disk mode if you're using USB, but Rockbox has no USB mode of its own.

Thanks Llorean.

So It should just go in automatically if I reboot when USB is connected? For me, when I reboot, it still loads rockbox each time, even when connected via USB.

thanks,

Are you using an official CVS build? Some people disable automatic USB mode booting in their custom builds.

Thanks Llorean - that must be it, as it is one of the custom builds. Thank you very much for your help.

Please, do NOT ask questions in the official forums while using custom builds. EVER. Do not assume that things work the same, or that your custom build is not the cause of your problem.

Confirm that it happens in an official build THEN ask about it.
