HELP PLSE!!! My iriver is dead :-(

I had a somewhat similar problem with my H120 - one day it just wouldn't turn on at all. No green light on charging, no go on external power, no life at all.
I opened it up and was able to determine that the Li-Ion battery had developed a short on the external side of the Li-Ion embedded controller (the chemical cell was fine, just the control circuitry was dead). This short was preventing the battery from working, and it also prevented the device from running on mains (external) power. I removed the internal battery connection and the player began to work perfectly on the external power source.
In the end I purchased a new battery on eBay, installed it, and it's now working 100% again.
