lyric plug in
« on: December 18, 2006, 03:59:44 AM »
Hi,

I have tested the SNC lyrics viewer but it's not working on my Ipod photo (incompatible..).. So i wanted to know if a developer could do a very little plug in which only display raw text on the screen containing the lyric of the song played. (the lyric is in the id3 tag)

I'm not a programmer and i don't know how to do it myself

Thanks you very much

(incompatible..)..

Incompatible what?

That looks like the message Rockbox gives when plugins from an earlier release are used with a later one.

Are you sure you updated your build fully?

I've installed rockbox yesterday with the latest ipod color daily build...

And today, i had just put the .rock plug in in the rocks folder.. that's all

Did i forget something?

To use .rock files they must be compiled specifically for your player, and be compiled recently enough that the version hasn't changed. In this case, it sounds like it was made for a different player.

Hum i have the good version of the file and it's always not working ... :(

I will try to create a plug in myself but it will take months :p

Is my approach possible?

Can i use the lyrics contained in the id3 tag of a mp3?

Thanks

what is a "good" version according to you? The plugins need to match the plugin API. If you get the "incompatible model" and the plugin was compiled for your device it's simply out of date. That's what Llorean meant by "compiled recently enough". Get a build environment and build it yourself, that's all.
