Is there a way to make the apple firmware play the files If they aren't in the..

noamhir:
Is there a way to make the apple firmware play my music files even though they aren't in the iTunes created folders?
because, I wish to browse my files in rockbox without the database but i still want the apple firmware to be able to play my files. I mean, i want both firmwares, not only rockbox, but also, i don't want to use the database...
If there isn't a way to do it, I'll stay with the database.
Is there?

Thanks,
noamhir.

There used to be a way, using MediaMonkey to recreate the iPod database file with the new file locations, but the Apple firmware (beginning in approx Nov 2005) prohibits playing files that lie outside the iTunes created folders.
Short answer= no.    :(
