Info needed for auto-detection
« on: December 15, 2006, 06:27:15 PM »
If you fancy helping me make the installer auto-detect players, then please could you check out http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/DeviceDetection.

Editing the wiki is pretty easy, but I'll also accept additions to the table in this thread.

It looks like Archos Recorder 20 (v1) is the same as the entry for the Recorder v2/FM, so you can just change it to v1/v2/FM.  (I couldn't figure out how to edit it myself, sorry.  I think I would have to register an account first and then wait for someone to add me)

FYI, the output of lsusb in linux for the Archos v1 Recorder was:
ID 05ab:0060 In-System Design USB 2.0 ATA Bridge

and for a 60GB iAudio X5:
ID 0e21:0510 Cowon Systems, Inc.

EDIT:  Someone updated the wiki with more useful information, so ignore this post.

Just as a note for H10 users (and Sandisk users, though I've already covered that, and possibly other device users as well) for software controlled USB, the VID and PID mode can differ depending on what mode the player's in. See the Sandisk one which has the same VID, but different PIDs for UMS, MTP, and Recovery modes, or the H10 which apparently has differend VIDs for MTP vs UMS (UMS has a Portalplayer VID, while MTP has an iRiver one).
