arm-elf-gcc: command not found / Error 2
« on: December 15, 2006, 01:08:33 AM »
Got a problem trying to complie a build.

HP_Administrator@your-9efcb93c24 ~/rockbox-devel/build
$ make
make[1]: `rdf2binary' is up to date.
make[1]: `convbdf' is up to date.
make[1]: `scramble' is up to date.
make[1]: `ipod_fw' is up to date.
make[1]: `bmp2rb' is up to date.
make[1]: `codepages' is up to date.
/bin/sh: arm-elf-gcc: command not found
CONVBDF
CC sysfont.c
Header parsed
make[1]: arm-elf-gcc: Command not found
make[1]: *** [/home/HP_Administrator/rockbox-devel/build/firmware/sysfont.o] Err
or 127
make: *** [all] Error 2

Can any one help me resolve this problem.

Please Note: That i have already searched the forums say couple related topics about this, but i didn't understand one heck that they were saying, so i would like to know if anyone can help me out in this situation. I have already installed reinstalled uninstalled n install arm-elf-gcc and recieve the same problem. I deleted the whole development software and install it again but the same problem still persisted. Also i have complied many builds in the past and this is the first time i've encountered this problem.

Take Care,
Jon

p.s Help would be greatly appriciated, thanks.

/bin/sh: arm-elf-gcc: command not found
You have either not installed the arm compiler or not in your path. Look for the files and
export PATH=/path/to/arm-elf-bin:$PATH

Why not use the vmware image?

To me the VMWARE image is too confusing. I have installed the arm complier but what do you mean not in my path?

The PATH is where you system looks when you type a command.  If you get a command not found, its because that command did not exist in one of the directories listed in the path variable.  This could be because you have not installed that command, or because the command is not in a PATH directory.

Directions are here:
http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/CrossCompiler

Towards the bottom theres instructions for adding gcc to your path.
