iPod Color/Photo
kushSeven:
Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this but it seemed to be where it should go for me... anyways. The reason I'm making this thread is I had a question about themes. Where are there themes created to work with the iPod Color/Photo? I have also tried websites that have lists of different themes and people have directed me to some other themes that should work.
What I'm confused about is that these themes... their text is usually messed up. I know I tried the jBlackGlass theme for iPod Photo/Color but it required me to have their custom build for this theme to work. (It does work with their custom build correctly... just freezes up from time to time - even with no frequency patch) Do I need a custom build for every theme I want to use? It seems that way so far...
I guess if someone could help me find some good themes that will work with the iPod Photo/Color and will actually look good. (Text isn't all over the place, or images are missing, etc) That would be great if someone was willing to help me.
So if I can be pointed in the right direction that would be great. I would also like to say I'm very new to ROCKbox... I was a long time ago running podlinux. I uninstalled for a bit... then decided to try out rockbox. I guess thats why I'm here now. :)
Edit: It seems now that the patch after several times reapplying it... is working now with the jBlackGlass theme. Also, should downloading more fonts help with the issue on alot of themes... the text being all over the place? I"m curious. Thanks.

You should certainly install the font pack http://www.rockbox.org/daily.shtml. Most themes will not work correctly with the wrong font (test will be in the wrong place etc) whether they need patches or not. Note that any questions when using an unofficial build should be directed to the appropriate thread in the unofficial builds forum.

I know... I was just stating it seemed like every WPS needed its own build to work like it should.
I installed the fontpack, but it doesn't seem to help as it seems in some themes the coding shows up when running the actuall skin like youll see something like
09|32 Song: Riot
I'll get a screendump of what I mean... (where changing the font just won't do). They said that themes for like H300(i think) should work with iPod Color/Photo but sometimes there is variables that show up I'm guessing because they don't exsist on the iPod? *shrugs* anyways I'll try and get that screendump to show you what I mean.
The only theme that I have gotten to work pretty much perfect is jBlackGlass - but that's because I had to download the build that went with it. (It was supplied at least)

Llorean:
The theme you're showing a screenshot of requires, in the least, a build that supports Album Art and Scroll Margins, from the looks of it.
AlexP:
As Llorean said, the one you posted looks like it makes use of multiple patches. The decision of WPS authors to make themes that requires patching is up to them I'm afraid. Until these features get added to CVS (and some never will due to taking an approach that will be superceeded, or unsuitable programming, or only working on one target player.....) then these themes will rely on patched builds. This is both the beauty and the beast of open source software!
