Rockbox boot loader..
(1/1)
Saew:
I know the 5.5G isn't officially supported, but I've been annoyed at the iPod interface for SO long, and being the idiot that I am, I tried installing Rockbox onto my 5.5G 80Gb iPod anyways.
Everything went fine, the patching and everything, up until the point where i had to disconnect my ipod from my pc, reset it by pressing Menu+Select, and thats where my iPod freezes.
All I now when I reset my iPod is
--- Quote ---Rockbox boot loader
Version: 20060126-1839
IPOD version: 0xFFFFFFFF
TOSHIBA MK8010GAH
--- End quote ---
and then my iPod freezes. When I connect my iPod to my computer with an USB cable, my computer does not even connect to my iPod anymore. It does not find any new hardware, nor does it show up as a hard drive in "My Computer".
I am affraid, very affraid, that my iPod is simply gone R.I.P., but please - as this was a birthday present - is there still any magical way to fix this?
dan_a:
There is - you will need to use "disk mode" and restore your original bootpartition.bin (I don't know if restoring it will work, you may need to use iTunes - but the important message is that your iPod is not dead)
Saew:
Omygod, i... you're right. I'm rly sorry about the whining and all that. I didnt find out about doing the disk mode correctly until just now.
Yes, it works!! i could restore it even :O
Sorry about the multi thread, i couldnt find a post solving my problem
*hugs iPod* never experimenting on you again ^o^
Thanks dan :D
(now its time for me to get all that adrenaline out of my system ;-O)
