Please Help patching jbuild's patches on a custom build
« on: December 10, 2006, 02:18:41 PM »
Have anybody here tried and succeeded to patch jbuild's patches on his own build?
I would be glad to get help with that.
Till now, i tried to patch jbuild's patches but no success.
vmware returns me an error - something about "glyph_cache_save" after i type "make".
I realy want to patch it on my own build cause i am using more other patches such as iPlay so i cant really just copy the firmware as almost everybody does.
Also, i skip many patches when i use the "patch" command because he asks me "which file do you want to patch" and i don't know what to answer.. lol..

Please help me patching these.

moved.

For the original problem: your description is a bit ... short. If you don't know what to do if patch asks you about the correct files you should really start with http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/SimpleGuideToCompiling

BigMac: Please don't tell us that we need to move a thread in the thread itself.  We typically see the thread quickly and are able to move it.  And if not, there isn't any harm in leaving it in the wrong forum for an extra hour...

sorry for putting it in the wrong place.
i wasn't sure where it belongs because jbuild is mostly about wps.

Anyway. I read the guide. but it doesn't really help me.. I used before this guide:
http://forums.rockbox.org/index.php?topic=4689.0

I still don't understand. when the vmware asks me 'what file to patch' after i use the 'patch --binary -p0...' command.. what should i tell him?
By the way. the vmware asks me this only about some of the patches, not all of them. only about a few of the jbuild patches.

and again the question i asked at the start: did anybody here patched jBuild?
If yes, can you please help me with it?

Quoting from the link I posted earlier:
Quote from: http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/SimpleGuideToCompiling#Patching
Sometimes (if the patch file isn't correctly generated) having the patch file in the root of the source files does not work, so move the patch file to the location of the files to be patched and run continue the steps below from there. In addition to this, some patches may required patching files in different locations... so repeat the process at all the different locations, until all the files have been patched (Note: first try all the patching attempts below before resorting to this)

IIRC, just using -p1 instead of -p0 should do the trick for the particular patch that's causing you some trouble.

tetrox has been renamed to rockblox quite some time ago due to legal reasons. Looks like your patches are completely out of date.
If you can't update the patches yourself ask the patch authors for updates. Otherwise you can't patch that build.

I think you might have more success on MiscticRiver, they seem to have more up-to-date versions of the patches than the ones on the tracker.

Have a look at this page.. Maxwen`s modified some patches and/or selected some that do fit together and, if you exclude the iaudioX5-specific stuff, you should be able to build something from the patches he provides if you take the time to read in what order to apply, etc...
http://rockbox.webhop.org/

It is not entirely impossible that maxwen is still using an older version of the bmp.c file in his builds, and it too might be an avenue for you to explore.

Good luck

As he said, if you exclude the iAudio-specific stuff, you should be able to build soemthing from the rest of the patches he provides...
