Dual Boot iAudio X5?

(1/1)

Kiwi-Dave:
Hi there,

I searched the forums and found threads relating to the confirmation that I can indeed dual boot the iAudio's firmware with the RockBox.

However,

I can't for the life of me find any real instruction to get this Dual Boot system going.

Can someone please help me :D

P.S. I hope I got the right sub Forum for the thread.

Dave

Kiwi-Dave:
UPDATE: I Shall now answer my own question for future reference,

Everything I needed to know was found at this thread:

http://www.iaudiophile.net/forums/showpost.php?p=93545&postcount=180

I got it going and so far its working sweet as!

But I'll summarize what has already been summarized with even less words for the lazy man.

- Install Rockbox

- Get this http://forums.rockbox.org/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=3766.0;attach=921

- Extract the files from the above file (remove the .jpg ext).

- Get the iAudio latest Firmware from their site and paste it in the same folder as the above files.

- in cmd type 'mkboot -iax5 x5_fw.bin x5-dual-bootloader.bin new_x5_fw.bin'

- This creates the file 'new_x5_fw.bin' which must be renamed 'x5_fw.bin'.

- Paste x5_fw.bin' into the iAudio firmware folder (Don't have AC power connected).

- Remove USB, Connect AC, Let the Firmware upgrade.

- DONE

To use the Orig. Firmware hold the Power Up for approx. 2 seconds.

&

To use the new ROCKBOX firmware flick the Power up and down with no hold.
