iriver h1x0 - RTC (real time clock) mod

<< < (28/30) > >>

poPFxv8V1:
Just wanted to report another successful RTC mod using the ds3231.

I departed a bit from the instructions though:

* The ds3231 is mounted upside up so the wiring is simpler.
* I used the pins as-is without bending them. Shorts on the pcb are prevented by a pice of Kapton tape (tolerates soldering temperatures).
* I soldered the NC pins to ground, as suggested by the datasheet. This provides lots of mechanical stability so I didn't bother to glue the chip down.
* I took Vcc from the serial port header instead.
Attached is a picture of the finished product.

Good job. It's good to see people still doing this. I still have not found a better 44.1 k recorder/player than the hP-120/140...

botinky:
nice job ;D

GaardenZwerch:
Did the mod last week (DS3231SN from maxim). It went so well that it was almost no fun at all  ;)

Another year, another successful RTC mod.  I used the DS3231SN and mostly followed poPFxv8V1's revisions.

Thank you to everyone who contributed their comments, experiences, etc.
