Rockbox: French Community Project

Hello !

This topic is mainly for the Rockbox Team, but if you have any remarks, feel free to post them.

I am french, and I realized there is no decent french community for Rockbox support, and rockbox development.

So I thought I could probably take things in hand, concerning this *possible* french community.

The project would consist of a wiki, and a forum.

The wiki would have articles on how to install rockbox, etc., either translated from the original rockbox website, or written by myself or any volunteer.

The forum would be the same as this one, but in french obviously.

So basically, I would need several things:

-first, the rockbox's team agreement for this project, as it intends to be "official".
-second, if all the francophone rockbox users could show they're alive in this topic, and tell me if they're ready to help or not.

Why not just put up some French pages on the existing Wiki. There are already some in one of the Far Eastern languages. Just tag the Wiki page so that 'Rockbox in French' appears somewhere in the main index and people should be able to find it.

Also title the pages as the name you want and then add French as a suffix to it.

Hum, yeah they are right... But I am from Québec and I can help you... hum, question: in the RockBox firmware, does it has a language change in it? Do I can change the language to french or maybe in a future update? I am a Gigabeat user and I am waiting for RockBox in my player

Yes, you can use rockbox in French (and many other languages)

D'you know how hard it is to try to curb misinformation just in forums I stumble across in my native language?

It surprises me how often I find complete groups of people with significant misunderstandings about Rockbox. If there is a French language forum, I'd honestly prefer it be considered unofficial.

We could have an unofficial forum, but that wouldn't prevent us from exchanging with the official forums and developper team.

I think Tuxfamily would be stick more to the spirit of the project though.
