H300 powers up to IRiver
« on: December 04, 2006, 11:29:33 AM »
Was the problem that H300 boots up to original IRiver firmware when connected to the power supply resolved? As I understand this is a limitation of the bootloader, any progress on this?

What I mean is when I power up H320 by pressing the button it loads Rockbox, and when I power it up by hooking up to the DC adapter it loads IRiver. I use it in the car and everytime before I turn on the ignition I have to remember to push the button, otherwise it loads IRiver and I have to turn it off and on again.

This was the designed behavior since the charging code hadn't been updated to the H300 IIRC.  This and a few other remaining issues should be addressed in the next bootloader release. Most of the bootloader work is done by Linus since he has a BDM for his H300 and he is currently rather busy. For now, you'll just have to live with this minor annoyance.

Just turn it on and let RockBox start up before plugging in your charger. It'll charge ok and you won't see the iRiver firmware.

Yeah, that's the way I do it, but I like the "car adapter mode" feature, when it automatically put itself on pause when dc power stops and resumes when dc power is back. This way I can put away the player for weeks under the seat and control it just by the ignition, you know? Really nice feature, I used it when I had Archos.

This doesn't work for me.... I am trying to use my h300 with rockbox but without a battery (I am using it as a music controller essentially for home use), so the only way I can boot up is with DC connected. Is there a keypress that will force it to boot to rockbox every time?

Thanks!

Never mind, I scrounged for an old battery that holds enough charge to get things started up in rockbox. I agree it's a bit of a pain though to have to unplug, power on, then plug back in :-)
