Existing music files question.

(1/1)

sporefrog:
I just installed Rockbox on my 5g video ipod.  I have all my existing music configured with the Rockbox database so I can view all of that fine. The question I have is when I'm adding new music will I have to use Itunes and then just update the database again? Or is there an easy way to take the existing files and make them into a nice folder tree?

bro2baseball:
You can drop the music files in any directory on the ipod. You can set the database to Auto update.

When you want to see the music, just select "View ID3 Database" from the Show Files option. All your music files (the ones that you dragged and dropped, and the ones you syched with iTunes) will show up there.

I just tried adding new music that way and sure enough it worked. Thanks for your help.

I also noticed that if you are in the main menu (where you browse files and such) if you hold menu you can switch between showing the database and showing all files, without having to navigate any of the menus.
