Korupt:
Im buying a 5th generation ipod http://www.apple.com/ipod/ipod.html the 30gb one and the big swing vote for me is weather it supports rockbox cos i really dont want to install itunes i just want to have an ipod but keep the conveniant mp3 and wma formats so can some1 pls tell me weather the 5th gen ipod 30 gig video supports any rockbox/jukebox, thanks... :o

Llorean:
1) Please, PLEASE read the posting guidelines before posting again. Your post breaks more than one of them, and the agreement you clicked through to sign up for the forums states that you agree to read them.

2) If it is an actual 5th generation iPod, then yes it will work. If you're buying it new, it's very likely the so called 5.5 iPod (even ones with 5th generation serial numbers now have the same hangup as the 5.5 ones, if they're new, in most cases.)

Mmmm:
and Rockbox doesn't support WMA yet anyway...

jacobts:
AND, i would use itunes for now untill there is an official release of the ipod rockbox. (the battery life is pretty low lilke 3-4 hours) the original firmware is like almost 10 hours same with videos and with music if i have the brighness all the way down.

Yotto:
Battery life on my iPod 5G 30 gig is actually a shade over 6 hours just running good old fashioned mp3s off the internet on shuffle mode.  I haven't checked recently, could be longer now as they're constantly updating.

However, Korupt, beware teh "5.5" iPod as they're not officially supported yet so any problems you have will be... Well... Unsupported.
