Hello everyone!
I made the jump to Rockbox a couple of months ago (September) and I'm a HUGE fan of the drag-and-drop functionality of my new MP3 player! (The draconian need for iTunes is stiffling, to say the least). The skinnable nature of Rockbox is also fantastic.
I am running into a problem that I was hoping to seek help with, though...
It would seem that my iPod now freezes from time to time. The only way to get out of this freeze is to perform a reset on the iPod (Hold on, Hold off, hold down center and Menu buttons).
I listen to several Xbox-related podcasts, and it has NEVER happened during these. The podcasts are typically an hour or two long. However, when listening to music, it happens much more frequently. I'd like to say that I've narrowed down the culprit to VBR-encoded MP3 files (the podcasts are CBR, and encoded at a low bit-rate for what it's worth). I can generally get through a couple of them, but it will almost invariably lock up at some point. Even if I play one VBR file, and multiple CBR files afterward, I can look forward to a lockup. I am willing to admit this might not be the cause, but I really can't figure it out other than this. Once it has locked up, it seems that the iPod (even post-reset) locks up faster and faster.
Does anyone have any thoughts on this? I've gone through MANY different interim builds, and I've even used the Rockbox Windows Installer X to see if I didn't upload the build properly, but it always seems to result in the same lockup. Help!
