ok so i installed rock box on my ipod.  When i turn on my ipod it says to reboot it in itunes and when i do it gets rid of rock box.  what should i do? please answer

We're going to need more information from you regarding exactly what you did to install Rockbox and what the results were of each step.  It would also be useful to know which iPod you are using and what platform you are installing from (Windows, Linux, Apple, etc.)

Im using a ipod video and the steps i did to install rockbox on my ipod was the exact same ones on the manual.

What platform?

And the results of each step?  Cut and paste if necessary.

well i did everything in the installation process and my ipod is fat32.  All of the things i typed in the command window seemed to be all right.
