ondio won't start
« on: November 24, 2006, 08:15:23 PM »
Hi - wondering if anyone has any tips for me to try with an ondio that's not starting up.

My wife came to me the other day and said it wasn't starting.  I pressed power, and it started right up.  I asked her what the problem was, and she said "oh" and tried it again.  It started up but returned some sort of garbled error that looked like a memory address.

Since then I can't get it to turn on.  No signs of life.

I've tried replacing the batteries, and taking it apart to see if anything was obviously amuck.  Everything looks fine.

It had been flashed with rockbox.  Holding left and pressing power has no effect either.

Anyone have any ideas?  I know there are some ondio experts out there - maybe there's something I could try to help narrow down the problem?

Have you tried to see if the USB connection works? If yes then you may be able to reformat it, but I cannot figure out what the problem is.

Sorry, I can't help right away but there are two additional (to the first one by the former poster) questions coming to my mind...

Do you know what the last action was before (like copying files over). I ask because once I screwed it up by putting a totally wrong wps on my Ondio and tried to load it.

Does really nothing happen - meaning you don't see "Rockbox Rescue boot" either?

Maybe answering these questions could help figuring out.

Thanks - there's no love on the USB connection front.  I plug it in, and get a "usb device malfunction" error in windows.

Last action was just turning it on.  It basically spit out some garbled message over the rockbox boot screen.

And yes, nothing happens when pressing power or left+power.  No activity on the LCD whatsoever.
