Can I use Rockbox without iTunes? [was: One question]

(1/1)

hinde01:
I have never liked itunes, with the exception of occasionally finding some good podcasts or something.  I don't want to ever let itunes get its claws into my ipod video.  Can I use this firmware as an alternate way to transfer files to the device and to play music, only using the ipod native firmware on occasion to play videos?  I couldn't find any clear answer to this question in the manuals, so sorry if I clog up the works.

You are correct.  With rockbox, you can place your music on your ipod in any manner you wish.  You can drag and drop with windows explorer, or use media monkey, or any other program you like, and use any folder structure you like.  And you can always boot back into the Apple firmware to watch videos, which must be placed on the ipod through itunes to be recognized by the Apple firmware.
