SID and ADX codecs?
(1/1)
iPodFoo:
I cant seem to find more information on the inclusion of the SID and ADX codecs.
Ive never heard of these. On some sites, says ones a codec for the xbox or the commodore 64!?!
Are there any command-line encoders for foobar to make them. I like to keep a library of playable tracks that I use to debug my themes in rockbox.
Thanks.
Genre9mp3:
AFAIK, a SID file is a sound data file that contains note patterns (like MIDI or MOD files) and also program code (used for playing the music on Commodore 64 or 128). The SID file format is not a native format used on Commodore but a format specifically created for emulators on PC.
You can find tons of SID files here: http://www.hvsc.c64.org
The ADX codec is some kind of ADPCM (Adaptive Differential Pulse Code Modulation)
Here's some info about Pulse-code modulation in general: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pulse-code_modulation
