ipod video?
htrick07:
Hi, i have two questions, one is how to determine if my video ipod is or isnt generation 5.5.
and secondly, im wondering if rockbox allows the ipod to be linked to more than one itunes library? That really bothers me when want a bunch of sons from a buddy's computer. Thanks.
Febs:
Rockbox isn't linked to the iTunes library at all.
When did you buy your iPod? What size is the hard drive?
jacobts:
when using rockbox, to play music you have to drag and drop it onto a folder on your ipod and you can play it from there just click on that folder and then the music file when you are navigating through the rockbox menus.
so, you dont use itunes at all if you have rockbox loaded onto your ipod.
but, if you want to play videos with sound you will want to go back and use itunes and the original os because rockbox doesnt support videos woth sound.

There are few ways to tell - how recently did you buy your iPod? Go to the Settings - can you change the brightness of the LCD? If so, it's a 5.5 generation. Also, the 5.5 introduced the 80GB iPod - so its a 5.5 if its 80gb (if its 30gb, it could be either - try the LCD thing).
One of the advantages (i think) of Rockbox is that it doesn't use an iTunes library (as others here have mentioned). This enables you to drag and drop the songs as if it were a hard drive. I have it mirrored to my music collection on my hard drive, which is organized by folders.
In your case, this means you can get music from a thousand different computers and Rockbox (and thus your iPod) really doesn't care.

alright, thanks for the help... it does have the adjustable lcd brightness so i guess i'll have to wait for a newer rockbox. Thanks a bunch.
