RockBox running as well as iPod firmware...

I read somewhere on ipodhacks.com that you could run Rockbox, as well as the original iPod firmware at the same time. Is this true?  And if not, can I boot up the original with Rockbox still on the iPod, in case I need to for some reason?

Another question, installing Rockbox wont format my iPod will it? I have all my songs backed up...but the time it takes to add 25 gigs could be saved.

You cannot run them at the same time.  However, by default, it is dual boot.

And no formatting is required unless it is a Macpod (HFS+ formatted).

So if I chose to, for some odd reason, I could have RockBox on my iPod, but still boot up with the original iPod firmware?

That is what the term 'dual-boot' implies ;)

Sweet, thanks, I figured that, but thought I'd be sure, since my iPod experience could potentially be at stake.  But I think I will do the cool thing and be different anyway. RockBox it is.
