Popular Science:
I'm a researcher at Popular Science magazine fact-checking a story about Rockbox for our February issue. I was able to confirm just about all of it by looking through the site and the manuals but there's one thing I can't find. How much space does the Rockbox software take up when it's fully installed? I know it's going to vary a bit depending on the player and the build so a rough number would be fine.
Thanks a lot for your help.

On my 5th generation iPod, with fourteen themes and all the fonts loaded, it takes up about 15 MB.
Minus the fonts and themes it would only be around 5 MB.
Genre9mp3:
Hello Bill,
It depends on the player and what features it has. For instance, Archos installation for the "Player/Studio" model (mono charcell screen, no radio, no recording) takes up only 850KB while the istallation for the iRiver H300 (which has colour screen, radio, recording, more plugins etc.) requires 4MB of space.
Notice that there is also a fonts pack (which is supplied seperately) which can take about 6MB (for all 60 fonts) but of course the user can install only the fonts that want to use.
Popular Science:
Thanks a lot. I'll suggest we say that it takes up 5 or less MB. I'm much obliged for the help.

There's lots of ways to make it take up considerably smaller amounts of space too, such as removing plugins and codecs that you don't intend to use.
