USB Charging on H120
(1/1)
riksweeney:
Hi,
I have a couple of questions about USB charging for the iRiver H120.
I've had a look through the manual (searched for charge or charging at any rate) but I cannot find any information about how this works, could someone let me know?
Using my AC adapter takes about 4 hours to charge, I was wondering if USB charging is any faster. Since the player needs to be on, will this stuff up the battery's memory?
Thanks
Richard
Mmmm:
You can't use the USB port for charging on the H120.

Fair enough! I thought I'd ask as I was convinced I saw it somewhere on the net...

You can use one of these:
http://www.boxwave.com/products/minisync/minisync-retractable-cable-iriver-h140_355.htm
which plugs from a USB port into the power port on the H140. The hardware does not allow charging via the usb connector on the H140 as has been said.
USB will charge more slowly than the wall adapter, as USB can supply only 500 mA, whereas the wall adapter is rated to 2 A.

To be completely correct there was someone who took a soldering iron to their beloved H1x0 to connect the USB power line to the PSU input (strangely not the USB pin of the charging IC - but I've not looked at the possibility of actually getting to that leg), I think they also did a patch to give the H1x0 USB charging (hold record while connecting ?).
But the cable BigBambi mentions is the safest bet !
