At the command prompt type:
ver
and hit enter, and paste for us what it says, I'm curious exactly what version of XP you're running according to your command prompt (like the version number)

Because you didnt do this step it cant find the input.mpg file. If you do it, all will work.

If i were you I would use the mvpd player in Ipodlinux; they've got audio (although it is uncompressed).

as for player implementation:
have anyone thought of using format similar to
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NDs-mPeG
this is used by Nintendo DS homebrew for playing videos...
it basically a mpeg1video + mp2 audio + custom header...
player is opensource and uses ARM9 (67 MHz) for video and ARM7 (33 MHz) for audio...

can't that be usefull? (especially for arm targets)

The problem is unchanged: we don't know how to access the secondary chip.

Until this problem is solved, mpeg player is very likely to not support sound.

@Noxneo: You're very much wrong, (see the patch here). I'm guessing you're talking about the Broadcom chip, which is indeed unusable, but the PortalPlayer chips actually have two cores. Only one core is used by the Rockbox at the moment, and the second core is whats needed for video+audio playback. That patch above is the startings of utilising the second core.

@senab: Noxneo was right; he said "Until this problem is solved, mpeg player is very likely to not support sound" and since the problem isn't really solved yet, he is not "very much wrong". The second core can be accessed, but from what I've heard there are some odd problems, so the second core cannot be fully used to play the audio.

I think senab was commenting on the distinction between a second chip, vs a second core (which is present on the same single portalplayer chip), the second chip being the broadcom one that only iPod Videos have.
