Well, did you read about the plugin in the manual/wiki? They aren't actually supposed to be .mpeg...

Yes, you have to download the actual program.

when i run the command prompt, it wont find the folder, i checked and that is where it is, umm, when i use the .bat file, what do i do?

i drag the video file on it and it opens up the program and a command prompt, what do i do after that?

is there a way to save it using the program or does it do it automaticly?

Could you please explain exactly what you are doing?  Try not to use the word "it" because while you may know what "it" refers to, we do not.  In other words, type (or cut and past) exactly what commands you are running and exactly what the result is.

Sorry to kinda hijack a thread but mine seems to have been totally ignored... Can anybody help... I have done all of the stuff in the wiki correctly: I used the *.bat file, it converts it, I drag it onto my ipod in a folder, great. It's on my iPod. I open rockbox, navigate to the right place, open one of the videos... Error. Try another... Nothing happens, says buffering forever. Try yet another... A different error.

Is this a known problem? I can't seem to get any videos to work...

Try to convert a different type of video file. If it still doesn't work, reinstall/redownload the program and try again using the wiki.

I actually downloaded ALL the test videos (some elephant thing m2v), and they either buffer forever or just quit, no message or anything. I also tried transcoding some of my own mpg videos with the mencoder method, but nothing.

it says error and it wont find it.

I asked you to avoid using the word "it" because it is not clear what you are referring to.  So you go and type a seven word sentence that uses the word "it" three times.  That is not helpful.

Let me try this one more time.  Could you please explain exactly what you are doing?  In other words, type (or cut and paste) exactly what commands you are running and exactly what the result is.  Do not say "it says error."  Type the EXACT error message that you are receiving.

This isn't really a command prompt support channel...
that being said.
Are you sure your path is "programfiles" and not "program files"?
Have you looked in the vlc folder for vlc.exe?
