how do i install the memory patch

im not sure if this goes here, and i am new to this all. i have a 60 gig video and am try to figure out how to install the  the memory patch. so if anyone would be kind enough to atleast point me in the right direction thank you!

Not sure what "memory patch" is referring to.  Do you mean enable 64 instead of 32 megs of memory?

The Basics:

Applying patches to rockbox means:
- installing a compiler environment (on windows you can use cygwin or VMWare, I would recommend VMWare)
- downloading the source coude and the patch
- applying the patch (which is a text file containing the changes to the source) with a patch program
- compiling the patched source (I would recommend to compile a Simulator build first to make sure the build is working)

You can find guides to every step in the Wiki, SimpleGuideToCompiling is a good start, WorkingWithPatches and UsingCVS and VMWareDevelopmentPlatform are a good read, too.

And no, there is no easier way.

Look through the threads in the unofficial builds forum. One of those builds may have this patch installed.
